10 of My Favorite Free Fonts
Fonts. There are so many fonts out there, and it can be overwhelming. To the untrained eye, they may all look the same. You’ll have to check out my post, What the Font, to read up on the difference between the different types.
I lean heavily towards a love of san-serif fonts, but I also show some love to the serifs.
Today, I’m going to show you ten of my favorite fonts that are FREE for commercial use. According to developers.google.com/fonts, the fonts on fonts.google.com are released under open source licenses. You can use them for any of your commercial (covers, branding, teaser graphics) or non-commercial projects.
Raleway – San-serif with 18 styles from thin to black

Montserrat – Sans serif with 18 styles from thin to black

Lato – Sans serif with 10 styles from thin to black

Open Sans – Sans serif with 10 styles from light to extra bold

Poppins – Sans serif with 18 styles from thin to black

Playfair Display – Serif with 10 styles from regular to black

Brygada 1918 – Serif with 4 styles from regular to bold

Cinzel – Serif with 6 styles from regular to black

Marcellus – Serif with 1 style which is regular

Caudex – Serif with 4 styles from regular to bold
